Spending time with my friends is always such a transformative experience for me. It always leaves with this deep appreciation for the people in my life, but beyond that, it reinforces my belief in love and the goodness of people.
Whenever I spend time with my friends, I end up with a residual appreciation for all human connection. Leaving a gathering, I’ll be attuned to other connections happening around me. Seeing a father excitedly answering his daughter’s questions about simple things around them, watching a couple live in their own little world where they’re the only people who exist, laughing and making puppy eyes at each other, all of it just feels so much more.
In those moments, seeing these people I’ve never met and may never see again exist in the love they have for each other, I feel so much joy because I know they’re experiencing a version of the love I feel for my friends. I know that their lives are being enriched and their spirits are being fed in the same way that mine just was.
My friends do so much for me just by being who they are.
